Whether you have a 06:00 departure, a late-night arrival, or an overnight layover, staying near Malaga Airport (AGP) saves stress and taxi fares. There is no hotel inside the terminal, but a cluster of airport hotels within minutes of T3 offer shuttle services, park-and-fly packages, and early breakfast. Here is what you need to know.
Why Stay Near the Airport?
- Early morning flights: avoid a 04:00 taxi from Malaga city or the coast
- Late arrivals: skip the 45-minute drive to Marbella at midnight
- Overnight layovers: proper bed instead of airport seating
- Park and fly: hotel + parking packages can beat official long-stay rates
- Return car rental: drop the car the night before, shuttle to the hotel, fly in the morning
Airport Hotels with Shuttle Service
These hotels are within 1–3 km of Terminal 3 and typically offer free or scheduled shuttle buses:
Holiday Inn Express Málaga Airport
One of the most popular choices for airport stays. Modern rooms, included breakfast, and a regular shuttle to T3. Good for families and business travellers. Often has competitive park-sleep-fly packages.
Campanile Málaga Airport
Budget-friendly option close to the airport. Basic but clean rooms, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. A solid choice if you just need a bed for a few hours before an early flight.
Hotel Plaza del Castillo
Located in the nearby business park area. Slightly further from the terminal but still within a 10-minute shuttle ride. Often cheaper than the closest airport hotels.
Other Nearby Options
Several additional hotels operate in the area around the airport industrial zone and Churriana district. Search for "Malaga Airport hotel" on booking sites — filter by "airport shuttle" to find properties with transfer service. Always confirm shuttle times when booking, especially for early morning flights.
Park-Sleep-Fly Packages
Many airport hotels offer combined packages that include:
- One night accommodation (usually the night before your outbound flight)
- Airport shuttle both ways
- 7–15 days parking on-site
- Breakfast (sometimes included)
For trips of a week or longer, these packages are often cheaper than official airport long-stay parking alone. Compare the total cost against our parking guide before booking.
Tip: on your return, call the hotel from baggage reclaim to arrange the pickup shuttle. Most hotels run return shuttles on demand rather than on a fixed schedule.
Alternative: Stay in Torremolinos
If airport hotels are full or overpriced (common in peak summer), Torremolinos is an excellent alternative:
- Only 5 km from the airport — 10 minutes by C1 train
- Much wider choice of hotels at lower prices
- First train to the airport runs from around 05:00
- Beach, restaurants and nightlife if you arrive the day before
The trade-off: you need to manage luggage on the train, and the first morning train may be tight for a 06:00 check-in. For flights before 07:30, an airport hotel with shuttle is safer.
Late Arrival: What to Do
If you land after 23:00, your options are:
- Pre-booked airport hotel: call the hotel from arrivals to request the shuttle. Most run 24-hour pickup on request.
- Taxi to airport hotel: a short ride (€10–15) to any of the nearby properties
- Taxi to Torremolinos: about €15–20, more hotel choice
- Stay in the terminal: AGP is open 24 hours but seating is uncomfortable. Only viable for short layovers — see our layover guide
Early Departure: Timeline
For a 07:00 flight from AGP, here is a realistic timeline when staying at an airport hotel:
- 04:30 — Wake up, quick shower
- 05:00 — Breakfast (if included) or grab something at the terminal
- 05:15 — Hotel shuttle to Terminal 3 (5–10 min)
- 05:30 — Join bag drop or security queue
- 06:15 — At gate area, ready for boarding
Confirm shuttle times with your hotel the night before. Some hotels run shuttles every 30 minutes from 04:00; others require you to book a specific time.
Booking Tips
- Book early in summer: airport hotels fill up fast in July and August, especially around bank holidays
- Check shuttle hours: not all hotels run 24-hour shuttles — confirm before booking for very early or late flights
- Compare park-and-fly: sometimes booking hotel and parking separately is cheaper — do the maths
- Read recent reviews: shuttle reliability varies — look for recent comments about transfer times
- Return car the night before: if renting, drop the car at the rental park and shuttle to your hotel. See our car rental guide
Hotels in Malaga City
If you have time to enjoy Malaga itself (arriving the day before an afternoon flight, for example), staying in the city centre is far more rewarding than an airport hotel. The C1 train takes 18 minutes from the airport. See our first 24 hours guide for what to see.
